Social Work and Counselling

We provide counselling and social support for patients, carers and family members to help them to manage the difficult journey with an illness. We also offer counselling for children whose parent is ill and we work with families to support children through the illness and death of a parent.

Our Social Work staff can assist with questions or concerns about benefits, housing or other social needs. They can also point out voluntary and statutory agencies which can help patients and families resolve these sorts of problems.

We have a Diversity Social Worker, funded by Macmillan, who can help patients and families from the black minority ethnic community to use services both within the Hospice and in the community.

Translating services are available for deaf patients and those who do not speak English.
