Bereavement Support Services

We see bereavement support as an essential part of good palliative care.

Many people feel grieving is a very private process but it can also be a time when they cannot manage alone.

We have a team of 25 highly skilled volunteers who have been trained by the Hospice in supporting people in grief. They include training and qualified counsellors. These Volunteer Bereavement Workers are managed and supervised by a full time counsellor and social worker.

We tailor bereavement support services to individual needs. In summary, we currently provide:

  1. Information about relevant services and grief processes
  2. Facilitated support groups
  3. One to one bereavement support
  4. Counselling
