Funding announcement

Palliative Care Education Consortium

Following 4 launch events in Spring 2006, we are pleased to announce the newly configured Birmingham and Black Country (BBC) Palliative Care Education Consortium. The Consortium is now in a position, from July 2006, to provide a range of non accredited programmes addressing palliative care for all/End of life care.

The consortium is made up at present of the following Hospices:

Compton Hospice                             Wolverhampton

Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice      Birmingham

St. Giles Hospice                               Lichfield

The consortium programme is funded via a commissioning contract and quality monitoring process with the NHS West Midlands Workforce Development Directorate (WDD) (about to be renamed as part of the restructuring process)

Through the Consortium, Birmingham St Mary's Hospice is running a series of courses and an Annual Conference that will be free of charge to NHS staff within Birmingham and the Black Country.

If you are unsure whether you qualify for a free place under this arrangement, please contact our education department or call Kara Fereday on 0121 472 1191.
