Medical Officer in Palliative Medicine (Trust Grade Doctor at StR level)


Required to join the multi-disciplinary team working on the 25 bedded Inpatient Unit, additionally with opportunities to participate in the care of Day Hospice and community patients.

The Hospice has strong links with local hospitals and their postgraduate facilities and we participate in post and undergraduate education. University Hospital Birmingham will hold the contract allowing all NHS terms and conditions to be maintained. The 1:5 or less frequent non-resident 1st on-call rota for evenings and weekends achieves a 1a (50%) banding. Applicants should have at least two years’ post registration experience and be fully registered with the GMC. Previous experience in Palliative Medicine would be an advantage.

The post will commence in August 2010 and will provide valuable experience in End of Life care for doctors progressing into General Practice or any hospital speciality. The post is recognised as providing excellent experience for anyone wishing to pursue a career in Palliative Medicine and fulfils PMETB criteria for Out of Programme Clinical Experience.
